New northbound service providing a link to East Midlands Airport
Second daily service to London
New timetable available online

Oakham and Melton Mowbray will benefit from an additional two train services a day from today, Monday 24 May, with the launch of the new East Midlands Trains timetable.

For the first time ever, a new morning northbound service will run to East Midlands Parkway, providing a link to East Midlands Airport, and to Derby enabling connections to northern England.  The train, which will run every weekday, will leave Oakham at 09.51 and Melton at 10.03, calling at East Midlands Parkway at 10.27 before arriving into Derby at 10.40.

In the evening, there will be a new train service to London, providing a second daily service to the capital for passengers from Melton and Oakham.  The train will leave Melton at 17.12 and Oakham at 17.24, arriving into London at 19.31.  This train, which will start at Derby, will also call at East Midlands Parkway before stops at Melton and Oakham, providing a rail link for passengers returning from East Midlands Airport.

Commenting on the changes, David Horne, Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said:  “Since the launch of our new London service a year ago, we have seen a steady increase in the number of passengers travelling from Oakham and Melton.

“With the launch of our new northbound service and the second daily service to London, this will provide an opportunity for even more people to give the train a try.”
