New East Midlands Trains timetable brings benefit for Bedford passengers

Article posted on 24/05/2010

Passengers from Bedford are set to benefit from a new evening peak train from London St. Pancras International with the launch of the new East Midlands Trains May timetable.

Changes to the timetable mean that from today, Monday 24 May, the 17.30 train from London St. Pancras International to Nottingham will call at Bedford every weekday, providing an extra train service for Bedford commuters during one of the busiest times of the day.

David Horne, Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We constantly review our timetable to ensure it provides the best journey opportunities for our passengers.  As part of this process, we encourage feedback and ideas from rail users and passenger groups to help us further develop the timetable.

"As a result of feedback received, and to provide passengers from Bedford with regularly spaced departures from London throughout the busiest part of the day, we are pleased to confirm that the 17.30 service from St Pancras will be calling additionally at Bedford from today.  This represents a significant improvement for Bedford passengers, and we know this will be welcome news for passengers travelling between London and Bedford."

Passenger Focus manager Guy Dangerfield said: “It is excellent news for Bedford passengers that the stop on the 17.30 has been re-instated.  This provides a better spread of trains for Bedford commuters to get home and will reduce crowding overall.”
