Following a series of successful Red Dot Days throughout the summer, East Midlands Trains has now announced it will be holding its fourth Red Dot Day at Leicester station on Thursday 28 August. This means that throughout the day on Thursday 28 August, East Midlands Trains will be making thousands of £10 day return tickets to London available for travel from Leicester.
So far this summer, over 3,500 people have taken advantage of one of East Midlands Trains bargain £10 train tickets as part of the company’s innovative new Red Dot Day initiative.
David Horne, East Midlands Trains Commercial Director explains the background to the Red Dot Days:
“Our research, which has now been backed up by real evidence through the Red Dot Days we have already held, shows that many people want to give the train a try but are not sure how to go about it. We want to demonstrate how easy and enjoyable rail travel can be, so we’ve been holding a series of ‘try the train’ days at our stations throughout the summer where people can literally come and give it a try for a bargain price of just £10.
“So far we’ve held Red Dot Days at three of our stations, which have been a great success and have seen over 3,500 people travel, and a large percentage of these are actually people using the train for the very first time!
“As one of the busiest stations on our route, with fast and frequent services to London, Leicester seemed an ideal location to have our fourth Red Dot Day.
“On our Red Dot Day at Leicester, we’ll have additional staff on hand to give out advice and help about timetables and tickets and we’ll also be giving out an assortment of goodies designed to entertain the kids. But the best bit is, we’ll be offering everybody the chance to travel from Leicester to anywhere on our network for just £10, or £5 for kids. So, a typical family of two adults and two children could come down to the station on 28 August, pick up some goodies and advice from our helpful staff, and then travel all the way down to London for a bargain price of just £30!”
There will be no limit to the number of Red Dot Day tickets issued on 28 August, and passengers will be able to travel northbound from Leicester on the 0954 service, or any service following that during the day. Or for those passengers travelling southbound to London, they can travel on the 0957 service or any train after that. Return travel can be made on any train, any time, provided it is made on the same day.
Tickets are available only from Leicester station with a special voucher, which can be downloaded from the reddotday.co.uk website. To reserve a seat, booking in advance is strongly recommended. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes in advance of their planned train departure.
