Passengers travelling with East Midlands Trains can expect to see cleaner, fresher trains out and about very soon. The company has recently taken delivery of a state of the art Hydromaster cleaning machine to help clean carpets and seat covers of trains used to operate its local services.
The new machine will be used at the company’s Eastcroft Depot in Nottingham where around 28 trains are cleaned, refuelled and inspected every night ahead of a busy day in service in the East Midlands.
The Hydromaster also uses fewer chemicals so it is more environmentally friendly and its modern diesel generator is more economic to run.
Dave Penney, Depot Manager for East Midlands Trains at Eastcroft Depot said ”This machine uses a high pressure jet of steam to loosen any dirt, followed by a powerful vacuum to remove the dirt and water. Before we had the hydromaster we had to take all the seat covers off and send them away to be cleaned. Now we can use this machine to clean in situ – so it’s quicker and cheaper. The results are amazing it can even remove tar and chewing gum!”
For the thousands of passengers travelling with East Midlands Trains every day this new machine should make a real difference.
