East Midlands Trains has recently appointed Arthur Pretorius to the role of Head of Stations.
Arthur, who joined East Midlands Trains on 3 November, will be responsible for overall management of all 87 of the company’s rail stations across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. Arthur’s job immediately prior to joining East Midlands Trains was working for another rail company, Southern, where he was responsible for managing Brighton and Eastbourne driver and guard depots. His previous career has also included roles in station management and he has worked at some of the busiest stations in the country, including London Victoria, Clapham Junction, Gatwick and Brighton.
Arthur is 37 and any spare time he has he enjoys sharing with his family, watching rugby union and playing cricket.
Commenting on his new role, Arthur says:
“I am very excited about my new role as Head of Stations. I have already met some of the team that will be working with me and I believe that together we can make improvements that will benefit our passengers.
“East Midlands Trains will be investing £90M in improvements during its franchise and approximately £5M of that will be spent on stations. This money will be used to make improvements to customer information systems, passenger facilities and generally update some of the stations on our route. We also see the opening of two new stations on our route next year at Corby and East Midlands Parkway so there is lots to be done but also lots to look forward to.
"My priority will be to deliver a safe and consistent rail service to our customers and ensure that we deliver on our franchise commitments."
