East Midlands Trains cuts the price of First Class travel from Nottingham

Article posted on 04/01/2010

East Midlands Trains will be cutting the price of First Class travel between Nottingham and London from 2 January 2010.

As well as reductions to the lowest First Class Advance fares to and from London, a brand new First Super Off Peak ticket is being introduced for travel from Nottingham, Beeston and East Midlands Parkway. This flexible ticket, which allows passengers to travel on any train arriving into London at or after 11.29, and allows return travel from London between 10.30 and 15.15 and after 19.00 on weekdays, is up to 36% cheaper than the equivalent ticket available in 2009.

David Horne, Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, comments: “We’re conscious that many businesses and individuals are still suffering the effects of the recession. We’re therefore determined to do what we can to help people cut the cost of travelling and to provide better value for money.

“From January, passengers will benefit from falling prices across many of our Advance tickets to London in both Standard and First Class, and cheap tickets are now even easier to find with the addition of a new Best Fare Finder tool on our website, left.

“In addition, we’re introducing a brand new flexible First Class ticket for passengers travelling from Nottingham, Beeston and East Midlands Parkway. Ideal for those passengers who don’t need an early start in London, this new ticket provides a bargain way to travel in First Class style. There’s also savings to be made on off-peak tickets, with the price of a First Off Peak return being slashed by £27 to £134.

“And to add to the savings you can make on your train travel, car parking at Nottingham and Beeston has been frozen and reduced at East Midlands Parkway, so there’s never been a better time to treat yourself to a First Class trip to London.”

The new First Super Off Peak ticket is priced at £113.30 return from Nottingham / Beeston / East Midlands Parkway to London and is available for bookings.
