East Midlands Trains has recently unveiled six brand new ticket vending machines (TVMs) at St Pancras International station.
During its franchise the company is spending £90m on improvements. Part of this improvement programme will see a total of 45 of these TVMs installed across its route by November 2009.
These machines allow passengers to buy cheap train tickets online and collect them at the station or purchase tickets directly from the machine at the time of travel.
Jake Kelly, Director of Customer Service, says, “We know passengers want choice in how and when they buy their ticket. By introducing more of this type of machine we are offering an invaluable additional channel to compliment other methods of purchase already available, such as our ticket office or the telephone booking system.
“The machines are modern, quick and easy to use and are available to passengers throughout the day. Of course this will bring benefits for people collecting or buying tickets when the ticket office would otherwise be closed.”
