East Midlands Trains has announced plans to run two additional trains for festival-goers travelling back to Nottingham following the Headstock Festival on Saturday 11 September.
The two additional late night trains will leave Newstead train station, which is just 200 yards from the festival venue, at 23.59 and 00.20. Both trains will call at Hucknall and Bulwell before travelling through to Nottingham.
Commenting from East Midlands Trains, David Horne, said: “We are very pleased to be playing our part in helping to ensure the Headstock Festival is a success.
“The people of Newstead have worked extremely hard to arrange the festival and we hope that by running these additional late night services, everybody can stay to enjoy the headline act without worrying about missing their last train back to Nottingham.”
The two additional services will run as follows:
Depart Newstead 23.59
Arrive Hucknall 00.03
Arrive Bulwell 00.07
Arrive Nottingham 00.19
Depart Newstead 00.20
Arrive Hucknall 00.24
Arrive Bulwell 00.28
Arrive Nottingham 00.40
Julia Thistleton-Smith, Newstead Village SOS Business Mentor, added: "The whole community is incredibly excited about Headstock Festival - this is one of the biggest things to happen musically in the region for a very long time. The day promises to be a wonderful family day out with a dedicated children's area - Kidstock which includes activities such as kite-making, jewellery and drum workshops, storytelling and puppet shows - as well as offering international bands and D.J.'s.
“We are delighted that East Midlands Trains have been so supportive of this important project - the company's willingness to help has been fantastic and typifies the response from the wider community and businesses in the area. As an eco-sensitive festival we would obviously like to encourage people to travel by train where possible."
The Headstock Festival is a contemporary music festival for all ages held in Newstead and Annesley Country Park, Nottingham. The event has been organised by the local community and is part of a new rural regeneration project – Village SOS, set up by BBC One and the Big Lottery Fund. Legendary rock band Ash will head the line up at this year’s festival.
