Thousands of passengers flock to new East Midlands Parkway station

Article posted on 04/02/2009

Latest figures show that over 4,000 journeys have already been made or have been booked for travel to/from the new East Midlands Parkway railway station since its opening last week, East Midlands Trains has announced today.

The station, which is situated just off the A453 at Ratcliffe-on-Soar, is just one mile from Junction 24 of the M1 and ideally placed to encourage people to move out of their car and onto the train. More than 100 East Midlands Trains services call at the station every day, with trains to and from London every 15-20 minutes at peak times, taking just 90 minutes to get there.

Commenting, David Horne, Commercial Director of East Midlands Trains said:
“It’s fantastic news that so many passengers are making the most of our new Parkway station, and we genuinely hope that people will carry on taking the opportunity of its ideal location to get out of their cars, off the busy motorway and onto one of our trains!

“And, with bargain tickets still available from £5 one-way for a trip to London and discounted rates on car parking, we’re providing plenty of opportunity for a budget train trip to the Capital.”

East Midlands Parkway provides direct rail links to Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln, London, a number of smaller stations and continental Europe via London St Pancras International.

Peak time departures to London; 0701, 0725, 0734, 0801, 0832, 0839. Peak time departures from London St. Pancras to East Midlands Parkway; 1615, 1625, 1700, 1715, 1730, 1745, 1815. Throughout the rest of the day there are at least two departures every hour to and from London.
