Car parking and cycles

East Midlands Trains is working to improve facilities for motorists and cyclists.

Car parking

For the first time, East Midlands Trains is introducing a Standard Plus Parking ticket – enabling Standard Class travellers to buy a ticket that includes parking. See ticket types for more info.

All London services car parks are now “pay and display”. You must purchase a car park ticket from a machine before making your journey, and display it clearly in your car windscreen.

The only exception is if you buy a ticket from a FastTicket machine that has car parking included, and don't have time to return to your car, then you can write your car registration number on the back of your car park ticket and hand it in to staff at the ticket office or reception. This applies to Standard Plus Parking, First Inclusive or First Plus Parking tickets. See ticket types for more info.

Cycle parking

East Midlands Trains is keen to encourage cycling – and we're working to improve facilities for cyclists.

All East Midlands Trains stations managed by us on the London services route have cycle racks available. These can usually be found on the platforms. Cycles are left at the owner’s risk and should be secured with a suitable lock.

For cycle storage facilities at Local services stations, check details of the individual stations.

Cycles on trains

Reservable services - London and Liverpool to Norwich route.

On the above services, reservations are compulsory to guarantee a space on the trains. Two spaces are available on these trains.

Non reservable services.

Space for the carriage of bikes is based on a first come, first served basis and is limited to two spaces on each train.

Please remember that all cycles are carried at our train staff's discretion. So, if a service is unusually busy, your bike may not be allowed on the train.

If you are travelling with a cycle you must make yourself known to the station platform staff, and take care to ensure your bicycle is stored safely and securely and away from doorways.

We are unable to carry tandems or tricycles on any East Midlands Trains service.

Folding cycles can be taken onto all trains, without a reservation, as long as they can be safely stowed in the luggage racks.

Unfortunately, replacement bus services are unable to take cycles.

To make a reservation, please complete the Cycle reservations booking form.doc (Word documents file) and email it to cycle.reservations@eastmidlandstrains.co.uk.
