Cycles, pets and luggage
Cycles
Whether you’re cutting down on your carbon footprint or simply prefer getting places with a bit of pedal power, we’ll do all we can to make it easy for you and your bike to travel with us. Most of our stations have extensive bike storage facilities, so why not cycle to the station and leave your bike with us? It’s free of charge and saves you having to worry about your wheels while in transit or once you’ve reached your destination.
Of course, if you’d prefer, you can bring your bike on board – we can carry two cycles per train but please note that our London and Liverpool to Norwich services require cycle reservations. To make a reservation, please complete our
cycle reservation form (Word document file) and email it to cycle.reservations@eastmidlandstrains.co.uk.
Where reservations are not required, bikes are carried at the train staff’s discretion. Folding cycles can be carried on all trains provided they can be safely stowed in the luggage racks.

Pets
We are happy to carry dogs, cats, birds and other small, domestic animals on board free of charge. These are limited to a maximum of two per passenger and they must be kept within an enclosed container or carrier at all times. We want your pets to travel as comfortably as you, so please ensure that any container gives them room to stand and sit. Dogs do not have to be contained as long as they are kept on a lead. Please make sure that your dog or container does not occupy a seat.
Luggage
You are welcome to bring three items of luggage with you on board our trains. This can include two larger items, such as rucksacks or suitcases, and one smaller bag, such as a briefcase. Please ensure that your larger items are safely stowed in the luggage racks and do not obstruct the aisles.
If you have more luggage or larger items with you (such as skis), you may be required to pay a charge and the items may have to be carried in the Guard’s Van. Unfortunately, oversized items (such as surf boards or large musical instruments) cannot be carried on board with you and you will need to make alternative arrangements to transport them to your destination.
