Routes affected: East Midlands Trains routes
Industrial action is being taken today, Thursday 17 May by members of the ASLEF Union who work for East Midlands Trains.
An amended service will run. To get options for your journey please use the National Rail Enquiries real time Journey Planner, which has the latest train and replacement bus information. Passengers on a small number of routes will need to use Stagecoach bus services, timetable links for these are available in the route-by-route guide below.
Sheffield - Derby / Nottingham - Leicester - London St Pancras International
- Derby - London St Pancras International: Hourly train service
- Nottingham - Leicester (connects with Derby - London services): Hourly train service
- Sheffield - London St Pancras International: Limited train service
- Sheffield - Nottingham: Use Northern services
- Corby - Kettering: A shuttle bus between Corby and Kettering
- East Midlands Trains customers with reservations for services to/from London should continue to travel on this route using East Midlands Trains services where possible, using the train closest to the booked time
Liverpool Lime Street - Sheffield - Nottingham - Peterborough - Ely - Norwich
- Liverpool - Sheffield: Use First TransPennine Express or Northern services
- Sheffield - Nottingham: Use Northern services
- Nottingham - Grantham: Use the East Midlands Trains services
- Grantham - Peterborough: Use East Coast services
- Peterborough - Ely: Use CrossCountry or Greater Anglia services
- Ely - Norwich: Use Greater Anglia services
- East Midlands Trains customers with reservations for services on this route should use the alternative services listed above as close to the original booked time as possible.
Crewe - Stoke-on-Trent - Derby
- Crewe - Stoke-on-Trent: Use London Midland services (some East Midlands Trains replacement bus services will also run between Crewe and Stoke after 19:00, calling at all intermediate stations)
- Stoke-on-Trent - Derby: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus service, which will call at Uttoxter only
- There are no trains or replacement bus services at Peartree, Tutbury & Hatton, Blythe Bridge or Longton stations. Longport will only be served by the replacement bus services running after 19:00
Nottingham - Grantham - Sleaford - Boston - Skegness
- Nottingham - Boston: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus services:
- Buses from Nottingham to Boston call at Bingham, Grantham, Sleaford and Heckington
- Buses from Grantham to Boston call at Sleaford and Heckington only
- Boston - Skegness: Use Stagecoach bus service (Interconnect 7)
- There are no trains or replacement bus services at Netherfield, Radcliffe, Aslockton, Elton & Orston, Bottesford, Ancaster, Rauceby, Swineshead or Hubberts Bridge
Lincoln Central - Sleaford - Spalding - Peterborough
- Lincoln - Sleaford: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus service, which calls at Metheringham and Ruskington
- Spalding - Peterborough: Use Stagecoach Bus service 37
- There are no trains or replacement bus services between Spalding and Sleaford
Grimsby Town - Lincoln Central - Newark North Gate - Nottingham
- Grimsby Town - Lincoln Central: Use Stagecoach Bus service (Interconnect 3)
- Lincoln Central - Newark - Nottingham: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus service, which will call at Newark North Gate and Newark Castle only
- There are no trains or replacement bus services at Hykeham, Swinderby, Collingham, Rolleston, Fiskerton, Bleasby, Thurgarton, Lowdham, Burton Joyce or Carlton
Nottingham - Derby - Matlock
- Nottingham - Derby: Use CrossCountry services
- Derby - Matlock: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus services (buses at Duffield will call at the bus stop on the A6, not in the station car park)
Nottingham - Mansfield Woodhouse - Worksop
- Nottingham - Mansfield Woodhouse: Use East Midlands Trains replacement bus service, which will call at Sutton Parkway and Mansfield only
- Nottingham - Worksop: Travel via Sheffield using Northern Rail services
- Nottingham - Bulwell / Hucknall: Use NET Tram services
- There are no trains or replacement bus services at Newstead, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Shirebrook, Langwith-Whaley Thorns, Creswell or Whitwell
Please note that there will be no seat reservations available on any East Midlands Trains on Thursday 17 May. All trains will be running with seating available on a first come first served basis, and please expect all trains to be very busy.
Ticket acceptance
On the days of the Industrial action, passengers (including those with 'East Midlands Trains only' tickets) may also use the following train operators:
- CrossCountry will be accepting East Midlands Trains passengers () on all reasonable routes on the strike dates
- London Midland will be accepting passengers between Liverpool and Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe & Stafford- Birmingham - Northampton - London Euston
- East Coast will accept passengers between Doncaster and London Kings Cross (use First TransPennine Express or Northern Rail services between Sheffield and Doncaster for connections)
- First Capital Connect will accept East Midlands Trains passengers on services where there is no direct East Midlands Trains service. For example, if travelling between Derby and Bedford passengers may travel into London and then travel on First Capital Connect between London and Bedford
- Northern Rail, First TransPennine Express and Greater Anglia will accept East Midlands Trains passengers on all reasonable routes
- Virgin Trains will accept East Midlands Trains passengers on all reasonable routes

East Midlands Trains customers who choose not to travel on the strike dates may either use their tickets a day before or a day after the strike date or apply for a full refund from the point of sale. This only applies to travel on East Midlands Trains services - customers with connections to other operators services will not be able to use tickets on other operators services on alternative dates.
