We’re dedicated to operating a great train service. From our front-line people, such as customer service teams at stations, to behind the scenes and head office departments, such as Finance, we’re all part of a focused and committed business.
We operate across many areas and you may be surprised about how far our services reach. Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield and London St Pancras are our main stations, as well as stations as far east as Skegness.
Also, we have got office-based teams; we have people based at maintenance depots and a team of dedicated people who have a roaming brief to make sure all of our buildings and equipment are maintained.

Our head office is in Derby, but our people work right across the network, operating trains at stations, engineering depots and offices. We also have a dedicated training Academy in Derby.

Our business works together in five main functions. These are Stations, On Train, Engineering, Drivers and Support functions. Here are some examples of the jobs you could do at East Midlands Trains.
Customer service is what we do at East Midlands Trains and our First Class hosts are dedicated to looking after our First Class customers. Whether serving breakfasts or topping up tea, the hosts are there to offer our passengers a smooth journey for what are some of our highest paying customers. Hosts are attentive and will help passengers through every step of their journey.
There are several jobs types at stations, but one of the most visible is that of the team that dispatches our trains. Their job is to make sure that trains arrive and leave their platforms safely and on time. They use industry agreed systems and procedure to check trains are safe to depart
The East Midlands Trains sales team manages our corporate relationships and sales. They work with our corporate clients to meet their travel requirements and keep booking processes simple and effective. They work with local councils and enterprise networks to develop products that work better for business – for example our all inclusive range of tickets, which allow business customers to add on parking, or breakfast to a ticket, to suit their needs.
From newly qualified drivers, to our most senior driver team managers, our driver teams are trained to the highest standards. Drivers are placed in teams and are supported with training and development to make sure we’re operating at the highest standards. They may drive on our mainline routes or locally, but either way they will know their route to the finest detail, to make sure everyone arrives on time and safely.
