Sheffield Winter Gardens

Sheffield's impressive multi award-winning Winter Garden is one of the largest glasshouses to be built in the UK during the last hundred years and has created a stunning green world with more than 2,500 plants from around the world. With direct access from Millennium Galleries and Millennium Square, the Winter Garden is the perfect pit-stop on your Sheffield visit this January.

Nottingham Caves

Take an audio tour of Nottingham’s historic sandstone caves underneath the streets of Nottingham, dating back to the dark ages. Learn more about the events that once happened inside these fascinating underground dwellings. Highlights include the only medieval underground tannery in the country, the Anderson WWII air raid shelter and the remains of the Drury Hill Victorian slums.

Star Gazing

Join astronomer Richard Darn this January for an evening exploring the night sky; touring distant galaxies, glittering star clusters and the planetary giant, Jupiter. This event will be using computer simulations to see the nights sky, so will go ahead regardless of weather.

Leicester Cathedral

Stop off at Leicester Cathedral and experience their Richard III tour. For just £3 per head, you’ll get an introduction to the burial Tomb and learn all about his recent discovery and reburial.  If you find yourself with a spare hour in the centre, be sure to also visit the Guildhall. The building itself was built around 1390 as a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi - a fascinating story in a fabulous building.

You can’t visit Leicester without stopping at the National Space Centre. With six interactive galleries, the UK’s largest planetarium, and the iconic 42m high Rocket Tower, the award-winning National Space Centre is an out of this world experience.

Chinese New Year

Celebrate the Year of the Pig in London, with the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations outside Asia. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people descend on the West End to enjoy a colourful parade, free stage performances and traditional Chinese food, and to wish each other "Xin Nian Kuai Le" (Happy New Year in Mandarin) or "San Nin Faai Lok" (in Cantonese).

The Beatles Story

Exploring the relationship between art and mindfulness and breathe… is an exhibition of artworks from a collection that has been co-curated with mental health groups Start in Manchester, Manchester Mind as well as pupils from Charlestown Community Primary School to explore the relationship between art, positive mental health and wellbeing.
