No trains to and from London Euston

What is happening?

Major route improvement work is taking place at London Euston (as part of the HS2 project) over the following weekends:

  • 25 / 26 / 27 August
  • 1 / 2 September

As a result, no trains are able to run to or from London Euston on these weekends. This will affect our colleagues at Virgin Trains as customers are not able to travel between London and the Midlands, North West and parts of Scotland via their normal route.

How does this affect my journey?

Although we do not run to or from London Euston, your journey may be affected as some customers who usually travel with Virgin Trains will be using East Midlands Trains services to and from London St Pancras.

Additionally, East Midlands Trains are running a revised timetable and a reduced service on our London St Pancras / Sheffield route because of the major resignalling project at Derby.

As a result, our services are expected to be much busier than normal, especially between London St Pancras and Sheffield. There are some big events over the Bank Holiday weekend:

  • Manchester Pride
  • Creamfields Festival, near Liverpool
  • Shambala Festival, Northamptonshire
  • Notting Hill Carnival

Advice for our customers

If you are planning to travel on these weekends and your origin or destination station is between Sheffield and London St Pancras, you are advised to reserve a seat where possible for a more comfortable journey.

You can do this online when you purchase any fare from our website. You can also do this at any of our staffed stations.

If you have already purchased your ticket but have not yet reserved your seat, you can request this up to 23:59 the night before travel by calling our customer support team on 0370 333 4875 or alternatively visit any of our staffed stations.

If you have purchased an advance fare on our website, you will already have a seat reservation.

PLEASE NOTE: Seat reservations are subject to the terms and conditions of the ticket and availability is not guaranteed.
