Broadband Boost for Thousands of East Midlands Trains Passengers

BROADBAND BOOST FOR THOUSANDS OF EAST MIDLANDS TRAINS PASSENGERS

  • More reliable broadband on East Midlands Trains services to and from London
  • £200,000 investment will help passengers to work and keep in touch
  • Improved on board WiFi alongside WiFi at a number of stations and First Class Lounges

 

Thousands of East Midlands Trains passengers can now enjoy more reliable broadband as well as cheaper daily and monthly tariffs.   

From this week, all trains to and from London St Pancras now offer much improved broadband connections for passengers. The £200,000 investment will also help to reduce so called ‘black spots’ where coverage can drop out.   

The WiFi upgrade has been installed through the existing partnership between East Midlands Trains and Nomad Digital.

In addition to more reliable connections, a new tariff will also be available for standard class passengers, which includes cheaper daily and monthly charges. From December, customers will also be able to take advantage of a new ‘anytime’ bundle which will enable them to buy 10 hours of WiFi, to be used at any time during a 30 day period. WiFi remains complimentary for first class passengers.

Neil Micklethwaite, Customer Service and Commercial Director at East Midlands Trains, said: “East Midlands Trains was one of the first operators in the country to offer WiFi to our passengers back in 2010 and since then we have introduced free WiFi at many of our stations and in our first class lounges.

“This £200,000 investment ensures our passengers can continue to enjoy the latest technology, including 4G, providing a better and more reliable WiFi on our London services.

“We have also reduced or frozen the vast majority of our WiFi charges as well as introducing a brand new ‘anytime’ bundle from next month meaning our passengers can make the most of their time travelling with us at an affordable price.”
