East Midlands Trains will be giving away thousands of blue cupcakes to customers to celebrate the birth of the Royal Baby this week.
Customer service volunteers along with ‘Shirley’, the East Midlands Trains Nottingham ‘mascot’, will be handing out the cupcakes to passengers at Nottingham and East Midlands Parkway from 10.00 am today (Friday 26 July). East Midlands Trains has over 100 volunteers helping out at key stations whilst the Nottingham re-signalling work takes place, helping with passenger queries and assisting with the replacement bus services.
Marc Turley, Head of Commercial for East Midlands Trains, said: “The birth of the new Royal baby boy has generated huge excitement amongst the team at East Midlands Trains and we really wanted to do something special for our passengers to celebrate his arrival.
“As a result of the current Nottingham re-signalling work, we know that many passengers will be experiencing longer journeys than normal. We hope that our celebratory cupcakes will help our passengers to celebrate the birth of baby George and make their journey with us a little sweeter.”
3000 cupcakes will be handed out in total which is the average number of babies born in the UK each day.
