East Midlands Trains Driver appeals to local businesses to help support special train trip

Norwich-based train driver Anthony Stevens is appealing for local businesses to help support a special train trip being provided for local children with special needs.

East Midlands Trains is running a ‘Santa Special’ train for children from Harford Manor School in Norwich on Sunday 11 December. The special train, which will just be for children from the school, will run from Norwich to Ely and children from the school will be treated to a visit from Santa as well as festive food & drink provided by East Midlands Trains.

Anthony Stevens, a driver for East Midlands Trains in Norwich, who is helping to arrange the special trip, explains: “We have been running Santa trains for a number of years now as a way of doing something special for our local communities. Each year we choose a different school, and we’re really pleased to be supporting Harford Manor School this year.

“We’ll have around 45 children from the school coming along and it would be great to have some small gifts to give away to children on the trains, such as bouncy balls and bubble gum machines. Staff at East Midlands Trains will be helping to support it by making gift donations for the children, but it would be great for other businesses and people in the local community to get involved.”

Harford Manor School provides education for children and young people with complex needs, aged from 3-19 years.
