The following three carriage additional services will also operate on local routes around Lincolnshire:
As well as providing additional services, the majority of local Lincolnshire services will also run with extra carriages.
Neil Micklethwaite, Customer Service and Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We know how popular Lincoln’s Christmas market is with people travelling from far and wide.
“We’ve therefore worked really hard to build on the success of last year’s plan and made some radical changes to allow us to offer the maximum number of extra seats across our network. This year, we’ll be providing more than 31,000 extra seats through a combination of special trains and our existing trains running with more carriages. We’re certain this will provide a great opportunity for even more people to pay a visit to Lincoln’s famous market”.
Passengers are strongly advised to use the additional special services for travelling to and from the Christmas market and book tickets in advance to avoid queues on the day. A queuing system will be in place at key stations and passengers are therefore advised to arrive in plenty of time to catch their train. Group bookings and reservations will be not be available on journeys to/from Lincoln on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December.
