East Midlands Trains gains prestigious ‘Committed to Excellence’ Award

East Midlands Trains has been awarded the prestigious Committed to Excellence Award (C2E) by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).

The award, which was given to East Midlands Trains following an external assessment, was in recognition of the company’s achievements in Business Excellence.

Commenting, Stuart Haywood, Business Excellence Manager for East Midlands Trains said:

“Since September 2008, we’ve been working closely with staff from all areas of the company to develop a process that identifies our strengths and areas for improvement, so we can continue to develop our business. The C2E assessment judges how well we have prioritised as a company, and also looks at the improvements we have identified.

“This award is a clear sign of our commitment to continue improving the business, and we are delighted to have achieved the first stage of the EFQM process.”

On awarding East Midlands Trains, the British Quality Foundation Validator said that it was very evident from the site visit that leaders at all levels of the company had a strong commitment to a culture of continuous improvement and there was a clear understanding as to why the selected improvement projects were important to the company.

East Midlands Trains will now be working towards the next step of the process, which is achievement of the Recognised for Excellence (R4E).
