East Midlands Trains helps customers to save money with launch of easy new ticket guide

East Midlands Trains has this week launched a simple new guide and some top tips to help customers save money and find the best tickets for their journey.

On the back of customer feedback, East Midlands Trains has launched the new #ticketsavvy pocket guide which shows a simple infographic explaining the different types of ticket available and an easy guide to when customers can use them. There’s also a range of top tips to help customers save money and keep up to date with the latest offers including:

  • Book direct with at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk to receive a £1 discount on the lowest Advance tickets.
  • Be organised – tickets are cheaper up to three weeks before travel.
  • Try the five day view tab when booking online; it helps to quickly compare times of the day versus price
  • Sign up with East Midlands Trains to save money through offers.
  • Keep an eye out for #WinningWednesdays on Facebook for a chance to win tickets and prizes.

Marc Turley, Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains explains the thinking behind the campaign: “We know some customers think rail tickets are confusing and people can sometimes be worried about whether they're buying the best ticket for their journey.

“We are working with the rest of the industry on how we can simplify train tickets in the future but in the meantime, we’ve launched a really easy guide which gives a simple breakdown of the different types of tickets available and when customers can use them. 

“There’s also a range of top tips for customers to help save money and keep up to date with the latest offers.”

Customer service staff have been at key East Midlands Trains’ stations this week handing out the leaflets and talking to customers about how the get the best deal on their ticket. A social media campaign will be running for the next few weeks using #ticketsavvy, and East Midlands Trains staff at its Derby-based 24/7 contact centre are available to help customers with any queries about buying tickets.
