• Train services expected to be extremely busy, people strongly advised to allow extra time for their journey
• Extra carriages provided on a number of services and more staff available to help customers at Leicester station
East Midlands Trains has issued advice for people using its services to travel to and from the Victory Parade in Leicester on Monday 16 May.
Extra carriages will be provided on trains to and from Leicester before and after the parade, and trains will be calling at more stations than normal. However, trains are expected to be extremely busy in the run up to the start of the parade and after the event has ended.
Customers are therefore being strongly advised to allow extra time for their journey to and from the celebrations. A queuing system will be in place at the station and extra East Midlands Trains staff will be on hand to help customers with their journeys.
Andrew Conroy, Acting Customer Experience Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We’re really looking forward to playing our part in Monday’s celebrations – it’s a fantastic achievement for Leicester City Football Club and Monday will be a very special day.
“We will be providing extra carriages on our trains and more trains will be calling at local stations, but we’re still expecting services to be very busy. Our strong advice for customers is to allow extra time for your journey and be prepared that you may need to queue at Leicester station.
“We will have extra staff at the station helping customers who will also be giving out some chocolate treats and flags to help people get in the party mood.”
