East Midlands Trains passengers are benefitting from more punctual trains than ever before, as latest figures show record-breaking performance for the Stagecoach-owned train operator.
The latest performance figures, issued today (12 April) by Network Rail, cover the four-week period ending 31 March 2012 and show that trains operated by East Midlands Trains recorded a punctuality figure of 96%. This is the best ever punctuality recorded by East Midlands Trains, and is significantly higher than the national average of 93.4%.
East Midlands Trains continues to be the most punctual long distance train operator in the country, a position it has held since December 2008.
The latest figures also signify a further improvement on East Midlands Trains moving annual average (MAA), which records punctuality results over the previous rolling year. The MAA has now increased to 93.6%, which is the best result ever recorded for East Midlands Trains, and it is also significantly higher than the national moving annual average figure of 91.6%.
David Horne, Managing Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We’re continuing to work hard to improve every aspect of our service, and these latest results are great news for our passengers.
“Our passengers are now travelling on fully refurbished trains, experiencing better station facilities, and most importantly, are travelling on more punctual trains than ever before.
“However, we know that there is always room to improve, and we appreciate that even the smallest disruption can have an impact. We will therefore continue to work in partnership with Network Rail to improve even further.”
Passengers are also noticing the improvements in punctuality and in the latest independent passenger survey produced by Passenger Focus, 88% of passengers said they were satisfied with the punctuality of their East Midlands Trains service. This is the highest ever satisfaction recorded and puts East Midlands Trains at the top of the long distance league table for satisfaction in this area.
