East Midlands Trains continues to be one of the most punctual train operators in the country, according to the latest performance figures issued by Network Rail today (19 January 2012).
The performance figures, which cover the four-week period ending 7 January 2012, show that trains operated by East Midlands Trains recorded a punctuality figure of 92.5%. The latest figures also signify a further improvement on East Midlands Trains’ moving annual average (MAA), which is now 93.2%. This represents the best ever MAA figure for East Midlands Trains, and it is significantly higher than the national moving annual average figure of 91.6%.
David Horne, Managing Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “These results are great news for our passengers and they reflect the hard work of our employees in delivering a reliable railway.
“However, we know that there is always room to improve, and we appreciate that any disruption, no matter how small, has an impact on our customers. We will therefore continue to work hard, in partnership with Network Rail, to deliver an even better service for our passengers.”
East Midlands Trains is currently the UK’s most punctual long distance train operator – a record that has been unbeaten since December 2008.
East Midlands Trains services also compare favourably with other modes of transport, including the road and air network. The most recent statistics for the Highways Agency managed network (Motorways and A roads) show that 82.7% of journeys were ‘on time’**. In comparison, the latest figures published by the Civil Aviation Authority show that 79% of scheduled flights were on time ***
