East Midlands Trains staff are gearing up for the Scalextric Challenge in support of Help for Heroes, which is taking place next week at Derby station next week.
Through a partnership with Cowan Global Consulting, East Midlands Trains will be hosting a week-long leg of the challenge at Derby station.
Taking place from Monday 26 October to Saturday 31 October, the challenge works on a simple concept. Members of the public pay £1, for which they get six laps of the Scalextric track. The best times are kept on an online leader board with the best 32 being invited to a challenge final later in the year.
Jim Cowan, Director of Cowan Global said: “Cowan Global are proud to be both organising and sponsoring the Scalextric Challenge in support of Help for Heroes. Lots of people have already taken part in the Challenge which will run until the end of 2009 before the final at Donington Park in January 2010. We are excited by the prospect of offering passengers at Derby station the opportunity to take part and to support Help for Heroes and are looking forward to working in partnership with East Midlands Trains to ensure the week is a success. For more details, please see www.scalextric-challenge.co.uk”
Jason Cocker, Station Manager at Derby for East Midlands Trains adds: “We’re really excited to be part of this challenge and to be helping support such a worthy cause.”
The Scalextric Challenge will be taking place from Monday 26 October to Saturday 31 October. For more information on the challenge, visit scalextric-challenge.co.uk or for information on East Midlands Trains, visit eastmidlandstrains.co.uk.
