  • Additional Saturday services between Derby and Skegness start this weekend
  • Services provide nearly 10,000 extra seats across the summer

As the country continues to enjoy the hot summer weather, East Midlands Trains is pleased to announce additional summer services between Derby and Skegness start this weekend. The extra trains will provide nearly 10,000 additional seats to and from the popular holiday destination throughout the summer.

East Midlands Trains provides regular services to and from Skegness throughout the year but the additional Saturday services, using larger High Speed Trains (HSTs) which usually run on the route to London, will make it easier and more convenient for customers to travel to and from the coast this summer.

The services call at Derby, Long Eaton, Beeston, Nottingham, Sleaford and Boston and are in addition to the extremely popular hourly service which runs daily between Skegness and Nottingham.

Kirsty Green, Area Station Manager for East Midlands Trains, said: “Skegness is one of our most popular destinations, particularly during the summer and we are delighted to be able to provide nearly 10,000 extra seats on Saturdays from this weekend through to September.

“The additional services will have more seats for passengers and more space for luggage as well as offering a direct service to Skegness for many more customers.”
