Hear ye, hear ye! The train now leaving Derby for London is faster than ever before

Derby’s Town Crier George Waldron had some great news to shout about earlier today, when he joined East Midlands Trains Director, Richard Bodicoat to officially dispatch one of East Midlands Trains first faster train services from Derby to London by ringing his bell.

The company’s new timetable came into effect this week (w/c 14 December) giving Derby passengers a number of substantial improvements to their train services, including faster journey times to and from the capital, more morning services to London, new business breakfast trains, and a much faster weekday evening returning from London at 17.55. There will also be new hourly services linking Derby to the Peak District and more trains to and from Nottingham.

Richard Bodicoat, Director of East Midlands Trains said:

“We know that providing fast easy links to and from the capital is vital to the economy of Derby and surrounding region. By creating a completely new timetable and looking at where most demand is we have been able to cut journey times between Derby and London whilst offering brand new local services and more choice for passengers. This will hugely benefit existing commuters and help us attract new passengers to rail.”
