Improved station facilities for passengers in Kettering

Passengers in Kettering are benefiting from improved station waiting facilities, thanks to a joint improvement scheme which has now been completed by East Midlands Trains, in partnership with Network Rail.

The two station waiting rooms, located on platforms 2/3 and platform 4 of Kettering station, have been fully refurbished. They now feature comfortable new seating, power assisted doors, new lighting and heating, all offering a significantly improved facility in which passengers can wait for their trains.

Andy Gordon, Area Station Manager for East Midlands Trains, said: “As the colder weather fast approaches, we know these new and improved waiting facilities will make a big difference for passengers using Kettering station.

“Our aim is to make sure our passengers enjoy their journey with East Midlands Trains from start to finish, and that’s why we’re spending £10 million on making improvements to stations across our network that will make travelling by rail an easier and more pleasurable experience for all passengers.”

Mark Tarry, area general manager for Network Rail, added: “These improvements should deliver real benefits for passengers using Kettering station. The programme of works here is a great example of the rail industry working together to deliver value for money projects that help to make travel by rail even more appealing.”

The waiting room improvements works have been carried out as part of the National Station Improvement Programme (NSIP). In addition, East Midlands Trains is investing in the full refurbishment of all station toilets and waiting areas at Kettering. All improvement works are planned for completion by the end of the year.
