Launch of New Parkway Railink - Connect East Midlands Parkway and East Midlands Airport

  • New shuttle service to run from East Midlands Parkway to East Midlands Airport
  • Hourly service, allowing passengers to connect simply from train to plane

Travelling to East Midlands Airport is about to get even easier as a new passenger shuttle service, linking East Midlands Parkway railway station with East Midlands Airport, is scheduled to commence later this month.

Parkway Railink will start on Sunday 29th March, in time for the big Easter getaway; improving the experience for thousands of passengers by offering regular shuttle services between the two terminals. The airport shuttle service will initially run with approximately one service an hour in each direction, in coordination with the current train service. Single journeys will be a fixed price of £6.

Railink is a partnership between East Midlands Trains, East Midlands Airport, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Elite Cars.

Richard Erswell, Customer Service Manager for East Midlands Trains said: “We are delighted to introduce a flat price, shuttle service between East Midlands Parkway and the airport, making it simple and easy for passengers to get to the airport for onward travel.

“We work extremely hard to make sure travelling with East Midlands Trains is convenient and reliable and working with partners to introduce the Railink service is part of that commitment to our passengers.”

Colleen Hempson, Surface Access Manager at East Midlands Airport, said:”This new scheduled service between the airport and our closest railway station will provide our passengers with a high quality, reliable link to get them to their flight or train on time.  We very much welcome the service and look forward to it going from strength to strength.”

Mohammed Khalid of Elite Cars, added: “This is a tremendously exciting venture for Elite Cars, made possible by the excellent relationship we have formed with East Midlands Trains, East Midlands Airport and Rushcliffe Borough Council.

"We are really looking forward to providing the Railink service and hope it will be very rewarding to play a part in improving customer journeys.”

The Parkway Railink vehicles will have space for 6 passengers and luggage.
