Longer opening hours for East Midlands Trains First Class lounges

·        Passengers to benefit from extended opening hours at Leicester, Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield
·        New First Class Lounge at St Pancras officially opened today
Rail passengers will be able to enjoy East Midlands Trains First Class Lounges for even longer after the train operator announced extended opening hours for its lounges and opened a new First Class Lounge at St Pancras International.
Passengers holding a First Class ticket for travel with East Midlands Trains will now be able to use the First Class Lounges at Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester until 18.30 on Mondays to Fridays.  All of the lounges offer free WiFi as well as complimentary drinks, snacks and a range of daily newspapers and magazines.
Neil Micklethwaite, Customer Service and Commercial Director for East Midlands Trains, said: "Whilst our lounges tend to be busier in the morning with people travelling down to London, we know from feedback that longer opening hours would be welcomed by our customers.
“We want to make sure we can offer our customers the best value for money, and by offering added extras such as this, we believe we’re delivering a truly improved First Class service.”
East Midlands Trains has also today (1 February) officially opened the doors to a new First Class Lounge at St Pancras.
Milan Mandaric, Chairman of Sheffield Wednesday and a regular user of East Midlands Trains, joined the train operator for the official opening.  He commented: “I am delighted and honoured to officially open East Midlands Trains’ First Class Lounge at St Pancras station in London.
“I use East Midlands Trains on a regular basis and this brand new facility will take their service to a new level, which is already superb.
“In business terms, East Midlands Trains and Sheffield Wednesday also enjoy an excellent relationship and I look forward to strengthening that bond in the months and years to come.”
The new First Class Lounge is located on the upper concourse at St Pancras, next to WH Smiths.  The new facility offers double the seating capacity provided in the old lounge and has the added benefit of a toilet.  It is also located closer to departing trains.  The St Pancras First Class Lounge is open from Mondays to Fridays from 0700 until 2000.   A range of complimentary drinks and snacks are available, including red and white wine.
