East Midlands Trains has been named as the official train partner for this year’s World Snooker Championships, which are running from 19 April to 5 May at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre.
Jason Cocker, East Midlands Trains Station Manager for Sheffield, said: “We’re really proud to be playing a part in such an exciting event for the city. We know that many people will be travelling on our trains from London, the East Midlands, Manchester, Liverpool and Norwich and our title of official train partner helps to mark the important role we are playing in this major event for Sheffield.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the USA's Florian Kohler and our home-grown champion, John Parrott, to the station. We’re certain our passengers will enjoy challenging John to a few shots to help raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.”
Miles Pearce, Commercial Director for World Snooker, said: “This year’s World Snooker Championship is going to be the best ever. Over the past few years it has been World Snooker’s intent to expand the event outside of the Crucible in order to engage with the fans and people of Sheffield. It’s great to partner with East Midlands Trains on the trick shot show and with Florian and John on board it is sure to be great fun for everyone.”
