The next train arriving on Platform 2 is the Santa Special!

  • Special festive service ran from Norwich to Ely on Saturday morning
  • Children from local Harford Manor School enjoyed a ‘wonderful time’ on board

Children, parents and staff from Harford Manor School in Norwich enjoyed a unique Santa Special service this weekend, provided by East Midlands Trains.

The 11.33 Santa Special to Ely carried 64 children and their families and offered warm drinks, mince pies as well as selection of gifts and treats, all provided by Father Christmas himself.

Father Christmas was looked after by his trusty elves who helped to look after everyone on board and that everything ran smoothly.

Harford Manor School provides education for children and young people with complex needs between the ages of 3 and 19 and has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ in its last two inspections.

Lynsey Wright, a parent and Secretary of the Friends of Harford Manor School Associatio, said: “For the second year running, the staff at East Midlands Trains in Norwich have given up their time to provide a Santa Train for the pupils and families of Harford Manor School.

“We all had a wonderful time and the parents were enormously grateful to all the staff for making it possible. The kindness and generosity East Midlands Trains show in putting this event on shows no bounds.”

Oliver Starbuck, Service Deliver Manager, East Midlands Trains, added: “The Santa Train service is always a highlight of the year for everyone involved and we were delighted to run the service once again. It brings a bit of festive cheer and happiness and it is fantastic to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.”
