Being a Responsible Business

There are many ways here at East Midlands Trains that we strive to be a responsible business. Some examples of how East Midlands Trains works towards this aim are:

Community Events

Many community events take place across our network throughout the year, including:

  • Community pagaents and processeions
  • Art competitions for station posters for local children
  • Bringing local communities and our stations together with schools and local groups helping us to paint, plant flowers and improve the appearance of stations.

Making Cycling to the Station Easier

East Midlands Trains have invested heavily in improving cycling storage facilities at stations over the past few years. Sheffield and Leicester now benefit from our new Cycle Hubs with Nottingham and Derby soon to also benefit. One of the aims of this programme is to make it easier for everyone to leave the car at home and reduce their impact on the environment.

As well as improving cycle storage facilities for our customers, East Midlands Trains also run a cycle scheme for staff, which has helped 100 of our staff members to ditch the car and make the switch to cycling -great for fitness and the environment!

Supporting Charities

To help our staff raise money for charities and make a difference, East Midlands Trains launched the Employee Charity Support Scheme. We have also made a pledge to our staff that we would develop programmes to support them in their ambitions to complete community work, fundraising and volunteering.
