London Airports

London provides a gateway from the midlands to two of the UK’s largest airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick airport.  Plus with journey times to London starting from just over two hours from Sheffield, the international destinations of the airports aren’t as far away as you think.

Getting to London Airports by Train

Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports are all easily accessible via public transport, just take a look at our guide on travelling to each below:

Travelling to Heathrow Airport

All five terminals of Heathrow airport are accessible via the London underground; just simply step off onto the platform at London St Pancras and hop onto the southbound Piccadilly line which will take you straight to the airport!  The journey from London St Pancras to Heathrow via the Picadilly line is approximately 50 minutes.

Travelling to Gatwick Airport

London St Pancras is an ideal connecting station to Gatwick Airport, once you arrive at the station you will just need to connect to a Thameslink service to Gatwick Airport.  The journey from London St Pancras to Gatwick Airport is approximately 45 minutes.

Travelling to Stansted Airport

Stansted airport is just over an hour from London St Pancras International. Simply travel via London Underground to Tottenham Hale where you will be able to connect to an onward train direct to Stansted Airport.

Train Tickets

If you’re looking to keep the costs of your travel down then make the most of our Advance fares and book your train journey as early as possible to get the best fares.  Alternatively, if you’re looking for more flexibility with your train travel then Anytime and Off-Peak tickets are also available to buy.  If you’re travelling on the London Underground then don’t forget you can now save time at the Ticket Office and simply use your Contactless Payment Card instead of an Oyster card at London Underground ticket gates.
