There’s lots of history to discover in Norwich and Norwich Castle is a great place to start. Built by the Normans as a Royal Palace 900 years ago, this landmark is now home to a museum and art gallery.
The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell is well worth a visit too, it’s housed in a former prison and tells the story of Norwich’s industries and people from medieval times to the modern day.
For more history, simply take a stroll along Norwich’s quaint cobbled streets. The half-timbered houses and pastel coloured walls make for truly memorable scenes. Be sure to visit Elm Hill , a charming medieval street in the city, which is a photographer’s dream as it’s full of character and beauty.

Music and nightlife
The Theatre Royal is the largest theatre in Norwich with a choice of plays, musicals, concerts and comedies on offer. Situated in a converted medieval church you’ll find Norwich Puppet Theatre one of only three permanent puppet theatres in the country.
From Norwich you can catch a connecting service to Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre , best known as the venue for the only ‘end of pier’ shows of its kind in the world. Here audiences are entertained with variety acts for three months throughout the summer and throughout December for the Christmas Show.

There’s lots of green spaces to explore in Norwich, one of the best is the Plantation Garden , a 3-acre Grade II English Heritage registered garden. With beautiful medieval terrace walls, gorgeous flower beds and woodlands walks, it makes for a tranquil escape and is only yards from the city centre.
Head to Mousehold Heath to discover one of the best views over Norwich’s skyline and is a short walk-through Norwich Cathedral grounds. With over 184 acres of woodland, it is the perfect place for a walk and to take in the views.
