Plan Your Perfect Skegness Getaway: Tips for a Smooth Trip

Monday, 7 August 2023

Thinking of soaking up the sun in Skegness this summer? East Midlands Railway (EMR) has you covered with some essential advice to make your trip a breeze.

As the summer season kicks off on July 9, Skegness is expected to be a hotspot for EMR customers. To ensure a seamless journey for all, EMR suggests a bit of pre-planning, especially if you're traveling between July 9 and September 9, with Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays being the busiest days.

Here's the deal: by booking your tickets in advance, you can secure your place on a specific train. At Nottingham and Skegness stations, queuing systems will be in place to manage crowds. But, if you're one of the savvy travelers with pre-booked tickets, you can take advantage of the fast track queue and ensure your spot on the train.

For those without pre-booked tickets at Nottingham, availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis on trains with available space. Fortunately, EMR has arranged capacity in a way that ensures there should be room for passengers at stations between Nottingham and Skegness.

If you hold a Season Ticket, simply head to the booked space queue when traveling from Skegness or Nottingham. At other stations along the route, you can board the train directly.

EMR hasn't forgotten about passengers from Grantham and Boston. On selected days and times, they're providing direct bus services to Butlins and Ingoldmells, making it easy to reach these popular holiday spots.

And the perks don't stop there. Just like in previous years, EMR will be running Skegness Summer Special services starting from Derby.

Booking in advance not only guarantees peace of mind but also secures your place on the train. So, if a fantastic summer getaway to Skegness is on your mind, remember to plan ahead for a stress-free and enjoyable journey.
